With its cabin-like design and plenty of room to stand and move, the Coleman Montana 8 Tent feels more like a house than a tent at the campsite. It has a 16-by-seven-foot (W x D) layout and a center height of six feet, two inches.

An innovative hinged door makes for easy in-and-out, and a vented Cool-Air Port and privacy vent window help improve airflow and keep things fresh. A convenient electrical-access port lets you run a cord from your device in the tent to a power supply outside, and an interior gear pocket keeps things organized.

An Important Note on Sleeping Capacity:
The tent spec states that it’s an 8-person tent, it just means for 8 persons to sleep inside and with NO room for storage of your camping/hiking gears & supplies. If you need additional space for storage purposes, consider buying a tent at least 2 sizes larger. Or, use the Montana 8 for 5 or 6 campers.

The frame is strong and wind-resistant, with 11mm, 9.5mm, and 6.3mm fiberglass poles; the tent fabric is 68D polyester mesh and 75D polyester taffeta inside, with a 75D polyester taffeta flysheet. The tent’s floor is made of a 1,000-denier polyethylene floor.

The packed size is 27.5 x 9.2 x 9 inches, weighing 24.5 pounds.

The Montana 8 Tent includes a limited one-year manufacturer’s warranty and the video for demonstration.

Pros

Inexpensive – It’s one of the cheapest big family camping tents on the market.
With a rain fly that covers the tent plus the outside of the door offering additional space for 2 to 3 chairs to stay dry under it.
The hinged door makes for easy in-and-out.
A convenient electrical-access port lets you run a cord from your device in the tent to a power supply outside.
Quality floor made of 1,000-denier polyethylene.
Ample headroom – Center height is 6 feet 2 inches.

Cons

Set up is not as easy and as quick as the Coleman Instant Tents. It takes about 15 minutes to set up with 2 persons (under 5 minutes for an Instant Tent with just one person).
The tent’s footprint is 16 feet in length by 7 feet in width. The 7 feet width is rather narrow for queen-sized air mattresses (80 inches width).
The tent’s interior can be very hot with the rain fly on, with only a vented airport near the top for airflow.
